Hand-made digestive bitters

Digestive bitters help activate all digestive juices—stomach acid, bile, and pancreatic enzymes. They can relieve digestive issues, reduce sugar cravings, and help the body better absorb essential nutrients from food.

BETTER DIGESTION

With consistent use, digestive bitters reduce digestive issues and help the body digest food more effectively.

LESS CRAVINGS

Bitterness is the opposite of sweetness and influences various hormones that help reduce sugar cravings.

GOOD BACTERIA

When stomach acid, bile, and the pancreas are functioning well, it creates a better environment for beneficial bacteria in the digestive system.

What do digestive bitters do?

The bitter taste triggers a cascade of signals that stimulate our digestion.

ACTIVATION OF DIGESTIVE JUICES

Digestive bitters activate digestive juices—such as stomach acid, digestive enzymes, liver, and bile. These juices are crucial for breaking down food efficiently, helping the body absorb essential nutrients.

The digestive system is triggered by specific signals, and bitter-tasting plants set off this chain reaction, stimulating the entire digestive process.

FROM THE TONGUE TO THE BRAIN AND THEN TO THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

We have bitter receptors all over the tongue that are activated by bitter taste. These cells are connected to nerve pathways that first go to the brainstem, and from there, the brain sends a signal through the vagus nerve to the salivary glands and the entire digestive system—stomach, pancreas, and liver. The result is improved digestion.

BITTER AFFECTS SIGNAL HORMONES

The cells with bitter receptors also produce certain hormonal components that enter the bloodstream and stimulate the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. In addition to boosting digestion, they also have an appetite-regulating effect.

BITTER INCREASES STOMACH ACID

When reaching the stomach, bitters continue to work as there are also bitter receptors in the stomach. There, they stimulate the production of stomach acid and digestive enzymes, which, among other things, help synthesize vitamin B12.

Through the vagus nerve, bitters also send a signal from the stomach to the pancreas and liver, prompting them to activate and begin working on digestion.

STRONG STOMACH ACID IS IMPORTANT

Strong stomach acid is crucial for digestion. Nowadays, weak stomach acid is the source of many health problems. With weak stomach acid, digestion is impaired, and a person may suffer from vitamin and mineral deficiencies because the body cannot absorb them from food. Strong stomach acid also kills many harmful bacteria that would otherwise enter our system.

Many people with reflux mistakenly believe it is caused by too much stomach acid, while in reality, the cause is usually the opposite—too weak stomach acid. This doesn't signal the closure of the valve that should prevent stomach acid from rising, leading to heartburn.

How is this related to beneficial bacteria?

Bacteria primarily thrive in the environment they inhabit. Just as fish flourish in a clean aquarium, beneficial bacteria do well in a properly functioning digestive system.

When undigested food remains too long in the stomach and small intestine, when digestive enzymes and bile are insufficient to break down food, and when stomach acid fails to eliminate harmful bacteria, it fosters an environment that promotes the growth of bad bacteria.

Bitters help create an ideal environment for beneficial bacteria to thrive! These good bacteria are essential for effective digestion.

Available in two versions

Digestive bitters are available in two variants - with alcohol and with mild apple cider vinegar. Both work – it’s a matter of taste!

ALCOHOL EXTRACT

Alcohol extracts the bitter compounds from plants most effectively, making it a strong bitters extract. The taste is very bitter, with alcohol adding a sharp edge. However, many people find it quite enjoyable.

It lasts up to a year and does not need to be stored in the fridge.

ORGANIC APPLE CIDER VINEGAR EXTRACT

This digestive bitters extract is both intensely bitter and sour at the same time. Organic apple cider vinegar itself supports digestion and helps increase stomach acid.

It lasts for at least 3 months once opened. It can be stored in the fridge just in case, but it should be fine at room temperature as well.
The sediment at the bottom of the bottle is normal for a natural product. Similarly, the darkening of the pipette is due to the tannins in the plants. The vinegar bitters may also develop "the mother of vinegar" – a gelatinous substance formed during the natural fermentation process of vinegar, which contains probiotic bacteria.

How to use?

Digestive bitters should be taken before meals in a quantity sufficient to taste the bitterness. Hold it in your mouth to experience the flavor for as long as possible.

If you've had a heavy meal and forgot to take the bitters beforehand, they will still also stimulate digestion later—take them when digestive discomfort appears, and they will help relieve gas, bloating, or stomach pain.

It is recommended to take them daily for a couple of months with each meal to help "kickstart" the digestive system.

At the same time, digestive bitters contribute to good digestive hygiene. Over time, humanity has bred bitterness out of food. It was once much more prevalent and is natural for our digestive system. Therefore, bitters can be used long-term for good digestion.

Taking them three times a day, one bottle will last a little less than a month, and with less frequent use, it will last longer.
Take one pipette, hold it in your mouth
If it's too strong, dilute in a small amount of water
5-15 minutes before a meal
It can also be taken after a meal or whenever you remember
Take for a couple of months in a row
Can be used long-term

JANE-LY JÕGISTE

I was diagnosed with reflux disease, and the doctor kept prescribing strong meds with zero results. I saw your ad and thought, “What do I have to lose, I’ll give it a try.” And wow, since the fall, I’ve been living the life I had before reflux. No more stomach pains, no heartburn, and I always carry the bottle with me. If I start feeling heaviness in my stomach, I just drop some digestive bitters and it’s all good. I’m so grateful to you and really hope you keep making these, because I’ll keep using them and recommending them to everyone!

KADRI ILVES

The complete opposite of digestive weakness is what happens when I take the bitters, for me :) I’ve always had low stomach acid, low digestive fire. When there’s a more stressful time, the bitters get everything going and don’t let it stop. They also prevent bloating from happening!

IVI KURG

I have to admit, sometimes I forget and miss a dose. But I’ve noticed that my sugar cravings have really decreased, and I don’t get random hunger pangs anymore. Those are the main things that come to mind right away.

INDREK ANDEMA

A really good and nice helper. I used to struggle with heartburn and reflux, but since using the digestive bitters, I haven’t had any problems in the last six months. I can also handle spicier foods now. The apple cider vinegar version is my favorite, but the one with alcohol also has a nice taste. The new bottle has a really beautiful design too 😉

ELE-REET EHELAID

I’ve had digestive issues for years, and trying different things always had a short-term effect. When I read about digestive bitters, I was skeptical. At first, I wasn’t using them consistently and didn’t notice much impact, but as soon as I figured out how to stay consistent, I felt the difference strongly within just three days. I couldn’t remember the last time my digestion was this good. Also, since I was probably absorbing more from my food, my endless snacking decreased a lot. Before, I was always hungry before bed and had to snack on something, but that completely disappeared. So, in the end, my wallet benefits too since I don’t need to eat as much anymore 😃

TRIIN ÜLESOO

I had severe gallstone attacks—the stone moved and caused *mega* pain that lasted for hours. It was so bad, I was groaning on the floor from the pain. When I started using the digestive bitters, the attacks became less frequent, and there were several months without any. When an attack did come, I’d take the bitters right away. For about a minute, the pain intensified, and then *boom*—it was over. I basically got up and carried on with my day. It was like a miracle! It solved all the pain in just 2 minutes. It probably got the bile flowing, and the stone that was stuck in the bile ducts started moving.

MERJE PEEKMA

After four pregnancies, my digestion was constantly off. But I used the digestive bitters for a month, and I honestly haven't had any problems since. I take it every day.

TIIU KÄSNER

Both my husband and I prefer the version with alcohol, it’s more bitter 😀. What’s happened... I no longer reach for candy. My sugar cravings haven’t completely disappeared, I still have desserts, but I don’t go crazy if I don’t get them right away. Evening cravings have definitely decreased. Now, even my kids want some, so I placed an order for them too!

IREEN LAHT

Since I started taking a few drops of the digestive bitters before dinner, I haven’t had any more gallbladder attacks. And that’s how it’s been. So, it’s definitely good and useful stuff. 🙂 Before, I used to have pain once or twice a month if I slipped up. I had to be really careful about what, when, and how much I ate.
Bitterid seedimiseks Ulvi

ULVI TOOMUS

The digestive bitters have worked really well, especially considering the late holiday meals. I suddenly felt like a balloon in the middle, and that feeling wouldn’t go away. So, as soon as the bitters arrived, I quickly took some drops on my tongue. It was late in the evening. When I woke up in the morning, the balloon feeling in my midsection was gone! And that holiday effect was proof that those drops really do their job. Now, a couple of weeks later, I’m still amazed that the digestive bitters work. And so quickly. I take them daily, but also after a big meal when I feel like a balloon. That balloon feeling used to sometimes last for a week!

Why I started making digestive bitters?

My name is Triin. I’ve struggled with serious health issues, and at one point, my digestive system completely shut down. I started having gallstone attacks and various other digestive problems, and I became afraid to eat. I searched for solutions in many different places and eventually found digestive bitters, which began to help my digestion.

Since I was using them consistently, I decided to start making them myself. After a while, I had some extra, so I offered them in a group, and the response was unexpectedly large. Even more surprisingly, many others found relief too! Now, I make them for sale!
